My name’s JT Velikovsky and I’m a million-selling Transmedia Writer-Producer-Director.

The topic of my doctoral research thesis is: “Communication, Creativity, and Consilience in Cinema”.
In my research, (and PhD thesis) I examine creativity
– and, specifically, comparing the of screenwriting manuals to the extremes of movie RoI, or Return on Investment (or Movie Audience Reach / Production Cost).
* * *
The core research question essentially is: “What makes a great film story?”
I examine common story / movie elements in the Top 20 RoI movies, and compare those findings to the Bottom 20 RoI Movies. And I compare that to the screenwriting orthodoxy. And: the result is probably not what you’d expect.
So – the very first part of “The Problem” (research question) with all this is: Define a “great” film story…?
If this is of interest, I suggest, maybe starting at Blog Post #1
and reading right through…
There is also a High-RoI Screenwriting Manual
– and a 100,000-word doctoral thesis – but this research weblog includes certain selected information/excerpts, in the hope it is useful or helpful to screenwriters and filmmakers everywhere.
…Comments and feedback, always extremely welcome…
Thanks for reading!
